Default Anyone Know Colorado Emissions?

Looks like the move may finally be happening here in a couple months and wondering what the actual test procedure is. Pretty sure my truck won't pass with the beat to crap stock injectors and 250k on the clock. Any ideas?

I don't have to test because of where it is registered. It certainly won't pass a visual if they know what they are looking for. It is a federal truck so no cat required. Pretty sure I couldn't pass an opacity test without an emission specific tune.

Really you think not mine did when I had 4 injectors not firing and passed with a 38% opacity

I remember when I was stationed at Ft Carson, my Camaro (nowhere close to legally passing emissions or visual) never had to be tested because it had CA tabs. But that may have been a military-only deal...

IIRC it's all pretty much state run in CO which makes it somewhat more difficult to get a "pass." Just for reference, it was about $1200 to get a state ref's signature in CA and about $200 to help your car pass a smog check every other year. Stop by some local speed shops with your truck and ask about options... they make a living selling/installing off-road accessories after all

I just had to go through emissions in Spokane, and failed the first time. I had a pretty tweaked out performance tune that was left on the computer when it was repoed and ended up having to have it reflashed to stock to get it to pass. The tech at the ford dealer said if it wasnt a big tune he could have tweaked a little to make sure it passed. I will be looking to get this truck live tuned as soon as I can get my mods off the other truck

Not trying to sound sooo nefarious LOL. You could always replace your injectors, and then have them still fail you for no cat, or for whatever reason they can/want to come up with. Once you fail, they will have that on record.

So true but Cats were not really required on older rigs like ours. It is an attempt by ford to satisfy tree huggers. I do believe it was '03-'05 that it became a federal requirement. Heck the emissions people didn't come close to looking under the truck, didn't on the cars for that fact. Although the gal looked under my hood, doubt she even had a clue what she was looking for or at. They are really lax over on the East side of WA, as long as you pass emissions they don't care what you have or don't have.

Will be North of Denver, but no set location yet. Work will be pretty spread out. I have 90 days once we become residents so I will have a little time. The gas stuff is state ran, but the diesel stuff is done by private shops so that might help.
